A Mission to Transform: Innovating Legal Education
From how we teach our students in and outside of the classroom to how we deliver a legal education in new and engaging ways, John Marshall is championing change. With our law school’s founding principles of access and opportunity firmly intact, we have spent the last few years strategically assessing what we do and how we do it. The result is a clear vision of where we are heading. In fact, we are already well on our way there. With that in mind, John Marshall is going to be a leaner law school with a clear focus on what we do best: Preparing our students with the skills, knowledge, and experience to be successful in their careers, and in life.
Public Service & Practice-Ready Experience: Raising the Bar in Legal Education
John Marshall’s legal clinics are leaders in providing educational experiences that benefit both the community and students. With one of the most robust clinical education requirements in the country, John Marshall sets the standard for training students to practice the law, while instilling the higher ideals of public service. With your assistance, we can add innovative and relevant clinics and renovate additional sections of the 19 W. Jackson building to give the Community Legal Clinics a professional environment for client consultations.
Giving from the Heart: Scholarships and Memorials in Support of Our Students
The cost of attending law school has risen dramatically, which makes it harder for our students—many of whom are already working full or part time—to continue their studies. Scholarships are an absolutely essential component in attracting and retaining our best and brightest students, our diverse student body, and the 85% of our students who have financial needs. Legal education at John Marshall changes lives. By making a gift to one of our existing scholarship funds, or by endowing your own fund, you can change the life of a John Marshall student, who can then change many other lives throughout his or her legal career.
